  • A plugged in computer router

According to reports by Cisco's Talos Intelligence, at least 500,000 routers in 54 countries were targeted by the malware, which is called VPNFilter. So protecting your computer against further intrusion is as simple as rebooting your router. The alert also added that updating firmware on network devices should help.

The FBI recommends that people reboot their routers to "temporarily disrupt the malware and aid the potential identification of infected devices".

They say Russian hackers have compromised hundreds of thousands of private home devices in an effort to get into networks and see data.

Ocado: Another Deal to Squeeze Bears
If the retailer fails to hit volume targets it could also lose exclusivity and will have to pay compensation to Ocado . Over the next three years, they will aim to find locations for 20 fulfilment warehouses.

A group of foreign actors used VPNFilter malware, which can stop routers from operating altogether and can possibly collect information passing through them. That group, which is also known as APT 28 and Fancy Bear and believed to be directed by Russia's military intelligence agency, hacked the Democratic National Committee before the 2016 presidential election, according to US and European intelligence agencies.

It could also give hackers access to personal information or even disable the router. The company listed routers from Linksys, MikroTik, Netgear, and TP-Link, and QNAP storage systems, as targets of VPNFilter. The FBI also advised owners to disable remote management settings on devices and make sure their passwords are secure.

Breaking the connection though, is basically what you need to do, and the FBI's action in seizing the server spreading the malware means that your routers won't be reinfected once you reboot.
