YouTube Music Streaming Service Similar to Spotify Launches Soon

The service will feature a redesigned mobile app that is specifically created to play music, presumably replacing the one now available on the App Store. It has announced a new streaming platform called YouTube Music, along with an ad-free video service called YouTube Premium.

If you're saying to yourself, "No thanks, I don't want to battle through ads", you'll have to invest in YouTube Music Premium for $9.99 a month. YouTube's paid premium music service will cost $9.99 per month and will debut in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and South Korea before expanding into 14 other countries.

YouTube Music is launching in the US, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and South Korea next Tuesday (22nd May), with other markets - including the United Kingdom - following in the "coming weeks".

As for pricing, YouTube Premium will cost $11.99 Dollars per month in the US, while YouTube Music on its own will cost $9.99 USD per month. "YouTube is where artists and fans connect: creating and discovering a world of music".

For the $11.99 price, YouTube Premium will also roll in the new YouTube Music service. Google promises that YouTube Red customers will be moved to YouTube Premium and will pay what they pay for YouTube Red right now.

Apart from YouTube Music, Google-owned YouTube will also be re-launching YouTube Red as YouTube Premium.

With the increasing penetration of smartphones, data becoming affordable and ever-growing availability of content, 80 per cent of internet users across all age-groups in India are accessing YouTube.

For the price, the ad-free experience, background playback and downloads will extend to all of YouTube.

In the official blog post, the company outlines some of the unique features of the streaming service available through the stand-alone Android and iOS apps and desktop player. YouTube Premium will be rolling out in its existing markets starting on May 22.
