The tournament's decision, first reported by the New York Times, comes on the heels of Serena Williams' seed at the French Open.

Wimbledon runs from 2-15 July.

"I don't think there would be one player that would complain, especially the top ones, if she was one of the top eight [seeds]", McEnroe explained. She can be given a seeding but it depends on tournament organizers who traditionally go by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings and Williams is now ranked at 183. "Maybe not in time for me, but for the next person", Williams said, as per ABC.

The US Open is set to become the first grand slam tennis tournament to update their seeding policy to take into account players returning post-pregnancy.

Wimbledon officials take other factors into consideration and have the leeway to grant her a seeded place when the list is announced on Wednesday.

The French Open, which has always followed the rankings, did not make an exception for Williams, but Wimbledon has confirmed their right to make changes in order to produce "a balanced draw".

Republican senator Ted Cruz, of Texas, said he plans to table emergency legislation meant to keep immigrant families together. Authorities believe the driver and one passenger were USA citizens trying to smuggle immigrants into the country, Boyd said.

"There was definitely pressure towards the end", said Williams, who also completed the Serena Slam in 2003.

The 29-year-old reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon in 2011 and 2016 but may struggle to do so this year if Williams nabs her spot.

She gave birth to her daughter Alexis in September and returned to play in March at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells. Because I think ten years from now I think more and more players will want to have families and then coming back.

"I think so [on Williams going far]".

As for the argument that seeding Williams might be unfair to the player edged out of the top 32, McEnroe responded: "What's her name?"

"I think that being pregnant actually helped me win that Grand Slam". The pregnancy, the time away from the sport, and the recent injury are just enough to scare bettors into longish odds for Williams, and those concerns might be unfounded. "I've never played so fearless in my life and it was just. a whole new feeling". It's thus clear that Serena's pregnancy situation is affecting her betting odds, which might present value.
