Ramzan Kadyrov's regime is under US-imposed sanctions

Reports from Egypt suggest that Salah is angered by how his influence and public image have been used to help further certain parties' political agendas.

But Salah is now believed to be weighing up his global future.

Egypt striker Amr Gamal said that Salah's injury "killed" their chances of success and now the Liverpool striker could quit worldwide football due to his fury at being used for political gain during the tournament.

Salah was pictured alongside Chechnya leader Ramzan Kadyrov, who was installed as the republic's president by Vladimir Putin and has been accused of a large number of human rights violations.

Egypt's football association posted photos of the lavish banquet to Twitter, showing Salah seated next to the Chechen leader, while the rest of the Egyptian team were at other tables. "I gave Mohamed Salah a copy of the order and a pin at a celebratory dinner that I gave in honour of the Egyptian team".

Mohamed Salah is not considering retiring from worldwide football, according to Egyptian FA board member Essam Abdel Fattah.

In contrast to the reports, Egyptian FA board member Essam Abdel Fattah claims there is no truth to suggestions Salah is close to quitting. "He is training well and that means no problem".

His World Cup experience has been traumatic on two fronts, though.

Their journey in Russian Federation will come to an end against Saudi Arabia on Monday, with both sides eager to register their first points at the World Cup when they meet at the Volgograd Arena.

Salah is also unhappy that he's been dragged into issues beyond football and there is considerable friction with the Egypt FA, who had been locked in an image rights row with his representatives before the tournament.

Salah, who scored 44 goals for the Reds last season, is set for an early exit from the finals in Russian Federation after the Pharoahs lost their opening tow matches.

Whether Salah ever plays for Egypt again will now be under consideration as a result of the events in Chechnya during the tournament.
