Paul McCartney takes James Corden on 'Carpool Karaoke' tour of Liverpool

  • James Corden and Sir Paul McCartney

Lucky for us, the Late Late Show host apparently has the legend Paul McCartney on speed dial. I hope you like it. On Penny Lane, they popped into a barber shop - which had a picture on the wall of a much younger McCartney getting his hair cut - much to the delight of the hairdresser. "It's weird how it can do that to you", McCartney said after they belted the 1970 ballad.

During the conversation, Sir Paul revealed he wrote his first song at the age of 14, titled I Lost My Little Girl, before treating fans to a snippet. 'I didn't feel it coming.

While in the house, McCartney showed Corden where he and John Lennon would rehearse and write, and recounted the moment he and Lennon finished writing "She Loves You". "She gave me the positive word".

McCartney happily obliged - and even swapped seats with Corden as they harmonized on some of The Beatles' greatest hits, including "Drive My Car" and "Blackbird".

Corden labelled it "the most attractive story" he has ever heard, before the pair perform a version of it.

Spain , in 2010, are the only side to win the World Cup after losing their opening match, when they were beaten by Switzerland . The proof is in audio clips of his narration of the moment when Lozano placed a flawless kick to secure Mexico's early lead.

The singer then went on to share a bit of background on the origins of one of their most uplifting songs, "Let It Be", off the band's final studio album in 1970. "And I remember them playing me that".

Carpool Karaoke was clearly Corden's breakout, but I like how he's used the segment not as a senseless gag to boost YouTube views, but as a real opportunity to get to know the guests that ride around in the vehicle.

"If my granddad was here right now, he'd get an absolute kick out of this", Corden tells McCartney, reminiscing on hearing the song back when he was young.

The joyous "Carpool Karaoke" concluded at a local pub, the Philharmonic Dining Rooms, where The Beatles used to play when they were just starting out.
