Sons of Anarchy star Alan O'Neill found dead

Actor Alan O'Neill, best known for his portrayal of Hugh on Sons of Anarchy, has died at 47.

Law enforcement sources tell us O'Neill's body was discovered by his girlfriend in the hallway of her apartment Wednesday night.

The Irish-born actor had featured in hit series Sons of Anarchy, as well as drama Fair City from 2006 to 2012.

The website has claimed the actor has suffered from heart problems and was a heavy smoker. No cause of death has been determined, though no foul play is suspected. He was also set to appear in the upcoming horror film "Charlie Lives: The Family's Return".

Sons of Anarchy debuted in 2008, before eventually concluding in 2014 after 92 episodes.

The Irish actor is being commemorated by friends and fans who followed his career. So very sorry to hear of your passing. "My thoughts & prayers to you & to your family".

Fair City's Seamus Power, who plays Dermot on the show, said he "always enjoyed working with him". He's first acting gig was for a TV movie, entitled "Ballyseedy", in 1997.
