  • Will Stephen Curry Be Named NBA Finals MVP after Making History?

OAKLAND, Calif. - Multiple Golden State Warriors players told ESPN they were disturbed by Kendrick Perkins' reluctance to move his knees and feet as Stephen Curry backed into the Cleveland Cavaliers big man at the end of the third quarter, resulting in a verbal confrontation between the two.

For the Cavaliers, it was a familiar feeling as they were put to the sword in Game 3 at home by Durant a year ago and eventually lost the series in five games.

It was the closest they would get for the rest of the night. Including Wednesday, James has 6,888 career playoff points.

For a Toronto-based sports writer, it is an odd feeling to come to Cleveland and see the home team as heavy underdogs. Three of the Cavs' wins over them in this arena have been by more than 30 points and in only one of them was the margin of victory less than nine. Not only does LeBron have the flawless physique for professional sports, but he has been the "Chosen One" since he was about 14 years old.

Kevin Durant torched the Cavaliers with a playoff-career high 43 points as the Warriors overcame a 13-point, first-half deficit to close in on their third National Basketball Association title in four seasons.

Green screamed and whined to the bench saying he didn't foul James, and even went as far as to call him a "f***ing p***y". Kevin Love drilled a tone-setting three-point on the first possession, sending the crowd into fits, and J.R. Smith, who most definitely did not enjoy his trip to Oakland, hit one soon thereafter.

Iguodala, the 2015 finals MVP, scored eight points and made one steal in 22 minutes, but his impact went beyond those numbers.

As coach Tyronn Lue had hoped, Cleveland was more physical and won several 50-50 balls while outrebounding and outworking the Warriors, who spent much of the first half barking about the officiating. Game 3 will be Wednesday in Cleveland.

While it was a quiet night from Curry and Klay Thompson, who finished with 10 points, the Cavaliers simply had no answer to Durant. The Warriors are trying to join a select list of teams to win three championships in four years.

The Warriors promptly erased that six-point deficit when the second half opened, tying the game after less than two minutes of game time.
