WB Developing Spin-Off Movie for Jared Leto’s Joker

  • Jared Leto’s Joker Is Getting His Own Movie (EXCLUSIVE)

In an attempt to rectify the matter, sources told Variety that the actor "is set to star and exec produce an untitled standalone film, paving the way for future movies branching from Suicide Squad".

Last fall, Warner Bros. announced that a Joker origin story separate from the Suicide Squad depiction and the current DC cinematic universe was also in development. While the critics responded poorly to Suicide Squad, the film was a huge box office success, raking in $746.8 million worldwide.

Warner Bros. DC comics movie universe just got a little more complicated with reports indicating that Jared Leto's maniacal version of The Joker is getting his own standalone film set in the same universe as "Justice League".

Houston lost back-to-back games without their point guard, who they acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers for this exact moment. Lehigh Valley's recruitment of James is just the latest in what has become a trend since the calendar flipped to 2018.

However, without a writer on board at this time, it is unclear when the flick would begin shooting, or whether it would be shot before the Suicide Squad sequel, which is expected to go into production sometime in 2019.

No word on how today's news about Jared Leto's Joker movie will affect that project. Jared Leto is a played out actor who takes himself far too seriously, who I would be thrilled to not see except on rewatches of My So-Called Life. Much like how Warner Bros. stressed a year ago that that film did not mean Leto was out as the Clown Prince of Crime in the DCU, it would seem Phillips' film isn't off the table either. Yet. As for Joaquin Phoenix taking on the Clown Prince of Crime with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese, that remains a mystery.

Plot details are unknown at this point, but executives at Warner Bros. apparently intend to expand on the world depicted in Suicide Squad.
