Tape reveals Trump and lawyer discussing payoff over alleged affair

  • Former Playboy model Karen Mc Dougal says she had a months-long affair with Donald Trump after they met in 2006

White House reporter Kaitlan Collins was banned from attending an event in the Rose Garden on Wednesday, after she asked President Trump questions about his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen and Russian President Vladimir Putin. "What kind of lawyer would tape a client?" he tweeted on Wednesday. Is this a first, never heard of it before?

The tape then cuts off abruptly - a fact the president jumped on.

Weisselberg, on the other hand, has worked for the Trump family since the 1970s, and knows more about the Trump Organization's history and finances than almost anyone.

Fox News' judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano believes President Donald Trump has good reason to worry after a secretly recorded tape showing "an obvious fraud" was released to CNN Tuesday night.

Cohen, who no longer works for the USA president, is under federal investigation in NY for his business dealings and reportedly whether hush payments violated campaign finance laws.

The paper reported that Cohen told Cuomo he wasn't running a tape - before recording their entire conversation.

Karen McDougal, the model, alleges she began a 10-month affair with Trump in 2006.

The company also prevented manufacturers from selling devices running on alternative versions of its Android operating system. European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker will meet Trump in Washington D.C. on the trade issue next week.

She sold her story to the National Enquirer, signing a $150,000 agreement that gave the tabloid exclusive story rights and banned her from talking publicly about the alleged affair. Trump has denied not only the affair but knowledge that Pecker's company paid her off then spiked its promised story about it in a so-called "catch and kill" move. "As his aides work to keep him insulated from the outside world, Mr. Trump is doubling down in his efforts to tell supporters to trust him over the words of critics and news reports".

Mr Trump's current lawyer Rudy Giuliani says no money was paid, and the tape does not show evidence of any crime.

In the at-times muddled recording, Mr Cohen says he wants to set up a company to acquire the rights off American Media, the company that owns the Enquirer.

"No, no", Cohen says. Giuliani has said the payment was never made.

The debate over whether Trump was advocating for payments via cash or cheque is "irrelevant" in determining whether he violated campaign finance laws, said Joshua Douglas, a professor of election law at the University of Kentucky.

Giuliani contested Davis's interpretation and released the Trump team's version of the transcript, which contradicts Davis. Weisselberg hasn't been charged with any wrongdoing.

Trump is legally bound to disclose campaign donations and expenditures, and the payments, which Trump denies happening, allegedly made to McDougal and Daniels went unreported by both Cohen and Trump.
