US Ready to Make ‘Real Deal’ with Iran

  • The Latest: Schumer chides Trump for heated rhetoric on Iran

"It's time to face the facts about Iran's malevolent regime", Pompeo added.

"We'll see what happens, but we're ready to make a real deal, not the deal that was done by the previous administration, which was a disaster", Trump said on July 24 in a speech to veterans in the USA state of Missouri.

Also on Sunday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo compared the Iranian government to the "mafia". The rhetoric is not particularly different from North Korea's, if more hollow: Iran, unlike North Korea, has no nuclear weapons, and there's no way it can hold off the USA conventional military might.

The rising tensions between the two countries comes after Mr Trump cancelled a much-criticised treaty his predecessor Barack Obama signed with Iran in 2015 to stop it developing nuclear weapons.

Kim agreed to meet with Trump, and it made for a great TV show.

In September 2017, in his first speech to the United National General Assembly, Trump threatened to "totally destroy" North Korea.

The Iranian leaders, for their part, have been adamant about not wanting to talk to Trump.

In May, Trump - who has made Iran his public enemy number one - announced the United States withdrawal from what he called a "defective" multinational nuclear deal with Tehran, and moved to reinstate punishing sanctions.

"President Trump, on the other hand, I think is too forceful", she said.

US President Donald Trump's recent anti-Tehran comments are the "words of a troublemaker" pursuing "ignorant diplomacy", Iranian officials have declared, as the angry exchanges between Iran and the US rapidly escalate.

Israel suspends fuel deliveries to Gaza over arson attacks
An Israeli military spokesman declined to comment, but said its actions would depend on what happens on the ground. Three Israelis were wounded when a rocket hit a house in the city of Sderot near the Gaza Strip, authorities said.

"We are about to pull off something very big".

That in turn prompted Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday to urge the US president himself to "be cautious".

"America wants nothing less than [to] destroy Iran" but "Trump can not do a damn thing against Iran", the commander added.

It's probably too late now for a Singapore-style photo opportunity. They did the same in Syria; they are losing the war.

Trump apparently endorsed the Russian-Israeli deal at his meeting with Putin in Helsinki.

"The vain and useless imaginings of the United States president will never be realized", he said.

With Putin and Netanyahu handling the situation on the ground to Trump's satisfaction, the USA needn't get involved militarily in Syria.

Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, acknowledged that Iran's terrorist activities in the Middle East pose a threat but suggested it wouldn't be solved through a tweet from Trump. This is not a battle Iran can win. European Union nations are looking at keeping financial channels open for Iran when the United States sanctions hit full force in November.

Trump directly addressed the Iranian leader with his threat. Barring major domestic disturbances, Iran is preparing for a head-on confrontation, if only an economic one. Iran has insisted it will not renegotiate the deal.
