Wicker: I second Trump's support of Iranian people

  • Trump Warns Iranian President 'Never Threaten the US'

The wrath of Iranian politicians has apparently been directed at the widely-cited Trump tweet - all in capital letters - addressed to Tehran.

"We are about to pull off something very big".

Reese Erlich, veteran foreign correspondent and author of a number of books about the Middle East and war on terror, including Inside Syria: The Backstory of Their Civil War and What the World Can Expect.

Mr Rouhani also scoffed at Mr Trump's threat to halt Iranian oil exports, saying: "Anyone who understands the rudiments of politics doesn't say "we will stop Iran's oil exports".

Speaking to OneNewsNow after that exchange, Wicker says he supported the words of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who said Sunday that a thuggish regime is running Iran, a country of approximately 80 million.

After his two-day visit, Pompeo said he had substantive discussions on next steps toward the North's denuclearization, but the North's Foreign Ministry accused the United States of making "gangster-like" demands for its unilateral disarmament.

For years Iran has remained relatively quiet with their threats to the United States, thanks in part to the Iran nuclear deal they signed three years ago.

Iran's economy and currency has tanked since Trump withdrew Washington from the 2015 Iranian nuclear agreement.

In May, Mr Trump called the nuclear accord - or Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as it is formally known - a "horrible, one-sided deal that should have never, ever been made".

Markle's sister says it will be Meghan's fault if their dad dies
Issues among the newlywed's family have been widely reported and it's not the first time her half-sister has attacked her online. Of course, it helps that the powder pink shade matched perfectly with her dress , heels, and bag.

Iran is a favourite target of Trump's ire, especially since relations between Washington and North Korea began to thaw in recent weeks.

The other signatories to the deal have vowed to stand by the deal.

"For years, this regime was pampered by world powers and it's good to see that the United States is changing this unacceptable equation". We will resist pressure from enemies.

Trump's tweet appears to take the rhetoric expressed by Pompeo a step further.

Trump has a history of firing off heated tweets that seem to quickly escalate long-standing disputes with leaders of nations at odds with the U.S.

The US president's eruption on Twitter came after a week of heavy controversy about Russian meddling in the 2016 US election, following the Helsinki summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

The statement from President Rouhani that set off Trump was a clear threat to the United States.

While tensions between the countries have increased, both sides have reasons to want to avoid starting a conflict that could easily intensify.
