Karunanidhi's political career spanned eight decades.

DMK president M Karunanidhi's health condition is extremely critical and unstable, said Kauvery hospital on Tuesday in its latest medical bulletin. Since then, Murasoli played a significant role in advancing causes championed by Periyar E.V. Ramasamy's Dravidian movement and later in nurturing the DMK as a political party through the writings of C.N. Annadurai and Karunanidhi.

Karunanidhi was first elected to the Tamil Nadu assembly in 1957 from the Kulithalai assembly of Thiruchirapalli district. He began his public life working under social reformer Periyar EV Ramasamy, but cast his lot with CN Annadurai when he founded the DMK in 1948. "Of these early films, Karunanidhi's "Parasakthi" ("The Goddess") stunned Tamil audiences", Robert L. Hardgrave Jr., Temple Professor Emeritus of the Humanities in Government and Asian Studies at the University of Texas, told CNN. The greatest achievement of his politician genius was how he melded tough regionalism with unequivocal nationalism. After the state government declined the DMK's request, the party appraoched the Madras High Court for permission to bury Karunanidhi at Marina Beach. Hundreds of DMK cadres thronged Chennai's Kauvery Hospital after the news of Karunanidhi's deteriorating health broke out on Monday. "Fan clubs mobilized support for the party and voter turnout during elections", according to Hardgrave Jr. Karunanidhi is considered as the leader who has always been concerned about his party and its people.

Facebook suffers £83 billion financial blow following Cambridge Analytica scandal
The new laws were only in effect for one month of the quarter, which means the company may feel more of an impact in the current quarter.

The leader of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), who was popularly known as Kalaignar, or poet and artist, helped shape Tamil politics and was a fixture in state politics for more than half a century.

Karunanidhi swiftly rose up the ranks. Chief Minister Palaniswami also held a meeting with top officials and he reviewed the situation. Therefore, the vacuum he leaves behind isn't just political but also ideological.

The DMK will now be led by M.K. Stalin, Karunanidhi's son and successor.
