Charlotte Rae, who starred as Edna Garret on the classic '70s and '80s sitcoms "Diff'rent Stroke" and "The Facts of Life", has died at age 92.

Rae had been battling bone cancer. When she announced her diagnosis, she admitted that she was first diagnosed with the pancreatic cancer seven years earlier, but was able to go into remission after chemotherapy treatments without the public knowing.

Born Charlotte Rae Lubotsky, she was best known for her role as beloved housemother Edna Garrett, who first appeared on "Diff'rent Strokes" in 1978 before earning her own spinoff, "The Facts of Life", the following year.

Charlotte's passing comes after it was reported on Friday 3 August that The Facts Of Life was allegedly getting a series reboots courtesy of Leonardo DiCaprio and Jessica Biel.

Rae won an Emmy nomination for her performance in the 1975 TV drama "Queen of the Stardust Ballroom", according to IMDb.

In 1954, Charlotte made her TV debut on an episode of Look Up and Live, which lead to roles in The United States Steel Hour, Car 54 and The Phil Silvers Show.

Francesco Molinari wins The Open to claim maiden Major
"It feels weird", Molinari, now the first Italian to win any of golf's four major championships, told Sky Sports on Monday.

Rae's first major TV role came when she was cast in the recurring role of Sylvia Schnauser on vehicle 54, Where Are You? back in 1962. I'm not in any pain right now.

Celebrated stage and screen actress Charlotte Rae died on Sunday at her home in Los Angeles. "I'm feeling so terrific and so glad to be above ground", Rae told People Magazine. 'My mother, sister, and my uncle died of pancreatic cancer. "I love life. I've had a wonderful one already." she continued.

The cause of death is unknown. I lost my hair, but I had attractive wigs. That spin-off became The Facts of Life, a sitcom about a girls' boarding school and their (once again) kooky and kind house mother. Rae left the show in 1986 for health reasons, and though Cloris Leachman stepped in as Mrs. Garrett's sister, the show was canceled two years later.

Her last feature film credit was "Ricki and the Flash" with Meryl Streep in 2015. She was remembered fondly by her co-star Todd Bridges.

The star leaves behind her two sons Larry and Andrew Strauss.
