Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to serve a one-game Champions League ban, sources have told ESPN FC, which would leave the Juventus forward free to face former club Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo was sent off on his Champions League debut for Juventus after he appeared to have grabbed Valencia defender Jeison Murillo's hair, as they tangled off the ball midway through the first half.

The Portuguese star has received an automatic one-match ban and UEFA could extend that to three, but Juve would then have the chance to appeal the decision.

Ronaldo's tussle earned him a straight red and he will be suspended for Juventus' next match versus Young Boys on October 2 at Turin. Miralem Pjanic scored both times.

The referee did not see the incident that warranted the red card but depended exclusively on the assistance of the goal line official.

Despite the one-sided game, Coutinho revealed that he was feeling nervous about making his Champions League debut for the Spanish giants in front of Barca's home supporters.
