  • Senate Judiciary Committee Advances Kavanaugh to Floor Vote After Stunning Call from Jeff Flake for FBI Investigation: WATCH

President Donald Trump ordered the additional FBI investigation Friday at the request of the Senate Judiciary Committee. As far as Kavanaugh's role in the investigation, he says he "will continue to cooperate".

Mr Flake's move came a day after an extraordinary hearing in which university professor Dr Christine Blasey Ford detailed her sexual assault allegation against Mr Kavanaugh.

"The Supreme Court is the lone institution where most Americans still have some faith".

The Kavanaugh inquiry is expected to be tightly controlled by senior Federal Bureau of Investigation officials working with agents in the Washington and Baltimore field offices who will collectively determine who will be interviewed, what kind of questions to ask and what, if any, evidence to examine, according to a former senior Federal Bureau of Investigation agent. It was not one of their more notorious parties, because nothing remarkable happened to them that evening. That struggle looks like this: "regular people doing really scary things, things that make them cry, that sometimes scare their families", Archila said.

"I do think something awful happened to Dr. Ford and I'm very sorry, but I do not believe Judge Kavanaugh was involved or had anything to do with it and that's why I will support (Kavanaugh's) nomination", Kennedy said in a phone interview with Louisiana reporters. It will allow the FBI to investigate allegations of sexual assault leveled against Kavanaugh by several women. He told The Atlantic that despite his call for an investigation, he still meant to support Kavanaugh, "unless they turn up something - and they might".

Swetnick is represented by the attorney Michael Avenatti, who tweeted on Saturday that the White House's restrictions would "undermine the legitimacy" of the entire investigation. "And I think it would be proper to delay the floor vote for up to but not more than one week, in order to let the FBI do an investigation, limited in time and scope to the current allegations that are there".

Avenatti client: Kavanaugh was present at my gang rape
Doc said, "Avenatti has thrust himself into the Brett Kavanaugh debate with another woman who's accusing Brett Kavanaugh ". A spokesman for Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee said they were reviewing the affidavit.

The committee vote took place under extraordinarily tense circumstances, with America's political polarization on full display on Capitol Hill as Kavanaugh's supporters and opponents squared off in hearing rooms and protest-filled hallways. Flake said he was motivated to call for a delay as a way to preserve the institutions of the Senate and the Supreme Court. "I was demanding a connection, demanding that he look at us, demanding that he give us real answers", she said.

The probe "will hopefully allow this process to move forward in a timely and fair fashion", Sullivan said.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., pressed Saturday for an even broader investigation, writing in a letter to the chairman of the Judiciary Committee that the FBI should examine whether Kavanaugh lied to senators during his testimony.

Nancy Mace, the first woman to graduate from The Citadel and a Republican state representative from Daniel Island, South Carolina, said she had been sexually assaulted as a teen herself. 'But on the other side, we have laws in this country that protect individuals from being wrongfully accused'.

Leland Ingham Keyser said in a letter on Friday that she believes Christine Blasey Ford's claim that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her. And so if the Senate is willing to proceed with the Kavanaugh confirmation process, then a vote could presumably be held by sometime next weekend.
