Woodward book 'Fear' reflects chaos in Trump White House

For Woodward, it means putting almost a half-century of credibility covering eight presidents behind a vivid account he says is supported by scores of hours of recordings.

In an excerpt from the book released on Tuesday, Woodward describes Cohn as on multiple occasions stealing documents off of Trump's desk so that he would not sign them. "I stole it off his desk", Cohn is quoted as saying. Some White House officials expressed surprise at the number of erstwhile Trump loyalists willing to offer embarrassing stories of the President and his inner circle. "There was nobody taking anything from me".

"Let's f*****g kill him!"

Mr Cohn, Mr Trump's most senior economic adviser before his departure earlier this year, reportedly went to remarkable lengths to curb the president's instincts.

"So we're going to have a very inaccurate book, and that's too bad", Trump said. In a meeting about the Korean Peninsula, Trump's comments left Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis to say that Trump understood the matter at hand like a "fifth or sixth grader".

The book portrays Trump as prone to profane outbursts and impulsive decision-making, painting a picture of chaos that Woodward says amounts to an "administrative coup d'etat" and a "nervous breakdown" of the executive branch. Mattis called the book "the product of someone's rich imagination".

Trump claimed he "never used those terms on anyone", but audio recordings from previous interviews prove otherwise.

In the reports, Matties denied he's had to explain the basics of world politics to Trump.

White House chief of staff John Kelly also rejected Woodward's reporting that he called Trump an "idiot", even though multiple outlets have also reported that Kelly has privately disparaged the President.

'He's an idiot. It is pointless to try and convince him of anything.

McCain Lies In State at US Capitol

The book quotes Kelly as having doubts about Trump's mental faculties, declaring during one meeting, "We're in Crazytown".

"I knew I had a gray beard".

"You have people like General Mattis, General Kelly, two American heroes, come out and call the book pure fiction", Sanders said Wednesday.

But Trump also criticized Sessions for his Southern accent, reportedly mocking it and saying of his own administration's attorney general: "This guy is mentally retarded".

"In serving in this administration, the idea that I would show contempt for the elected commander in chief, President Trump, or tolerate disrespect to the office of the President from within our Department of Defense, is a product of someone's rich imagination", he added. "He's this dumb Southerner".

Bob Woodward's Trump book is already a bestseller on Amazon ahead of its release next week, and The New York Times has detailed some of the most damning stories from Fear: Trump in the White House.

"It's just nasty stuff", Trump said. Mattis then prepared a note on airstrikes on Syrian military targets that Trump agreed with.

"Rudy, you're a baby!"

According to Woodward, when Trump finally condemned them, he nearly immediately told aides: "That was the biggest fucking mistake I've made" and the "worst speech I've ever given".

In most of Woodward's now annual doorstops-God, the man writes with a spray-can-you can tell who the folks are who deal the juiciest material. He went on to say, "You're weak, Rudy". "Maybe I wasn't given messages that he called".

Dowd told Trump: "Don't testify".
