This is more than double what Cruz has raised, which is $30 million in the same period.

The second biggest spender, paying $3.1 million for 50,148 ads, was the Trump Make America Great Again Committee, according to the report.

Hedge fund billionaire and political activist Tom Steyer spent $1.7 million on Facebook to promote his Need to Impeach campaign, seeking Trump's ouster.

The report, which houses political ads for up to seven years, will be available to anyone regardless of whether they are a Facebook user or not, the company said. This ad archive details which page or group paid for the campaign, how much they spent on it, its reach and other ads the page has stumped up for.

Several politically active 501 (c)(4) s made the list, including the Koch's Americans for Prosperity, which took out ads making the case for cutting discretionary spending and passing a bill that targets union regulations, among other issues. Exxon Mobil has been running ads in opposition to a ballot measure in Colorado. This second edition makes it easier to see who is spending most lavishly on the platform, see who was spending the most money on Facebook and even inspect individual ads.

The report demonstrated that barely short of $256.4 million was spent on nearly 1.7 million politically-oriented advertisements reported since May of the present year.

Issues of national importance vary, depending on "which country you're planning to run ads related to politics or issues of national importance in", according to the site.
