Britain’s Brexit vote: How many lawmakers are backing PM May?

Parliament is mid-way through a five-day debate on the Brexit deal, ahead of the crunch vote which will define Britain's departure from the European Union and could determine Mrs May's future as leader.

Despite limited support for the deal itself, just 14% said they would back a no-deal Brexit when compared to May's offering, while 11% are unsure.

Steve Bates concluded by saying a "no deal" Brexit would mean the "biggest dis-integration of the complex regulated medicines market across Europe in terms of regulation, cross border movement of goods, comparative pricing and intellectual property".

Mr Graham, who sits on the Exiting the EU Committee, told the Press Association it had been clear for some time the backstop "was and remains the thing that gives colleagues the most concern".

"People are concerned about the role of the United Kingdom in making these decisions". Or do they say throw it to the walls and lets have a general election? "I am sorry to say this, these are hard truths, but there will be no proper free trade deals and we will not take back control of our laws". She believes it's the right deal for the country, it delivers on the Brexit that the people voted for and does it in such a way that protects jobs.

"But if under the current rules we can not get an election, all options must be on the table".

Conservative chairman Brandon Lewis said it was "the strongest signal yet that Labour are considering backing a second referendum, breaking his promise to respect the country's decision to leave". We could have a similar situation, the only blessing they've got is that the Labour Party is nowhere almost united under Jeremy Corbyn as it was under Tony Blair.

Instead, she has sent her most senior advisers, including Treasury chief Philip Hammond and Health Secretary Matt Hancock, to schools, hospitals and small businesses around the country to take her case to the British people.

However, the transition period could be extended for a maximum of two more years.

Theresa May has said that she will carry on fighting even if she loses this vote but if the defeat is the hundreds, so the majority against her position is over a hundred MPs, then her position arguably becomes untenable and there may be a vote of no confidence in her government.

A fresh amendment to the vote on the Withdrawal Agreement also appeared created to shore up Mrs May's position.

The amendment was proposed hours after May said she was looking at whether parliament could be given a greater role in deciding whether to trigger the backstop.

But it would also place a "duty" on the Government to have a workable alternative in place within a year of the backstop being entered.

DUP leader Nigel Dodds said his party would vote against the deal, but would not move to bring down May's government.

Ministers admit the deal struck with Brussels last month is not flawless but say it is the only option for an orderly Brexit after four decades of membership.

Failure to secure such deals - let it be with the European Union as a whole, or individual member states - could jeopardize the "triple-lock" - or a government's commitment state pension every year at a rate higher of inflation, average earnings or a minimum of 2.5%.
