Spaniard, Roberto Bautista Agut yesterday in Doha beat world number one, Novak Djokovic, in the semi-finals of the Qatar Open.

The 30-year-old Spaniard will face Tomas Berdych in the title clash after the Czech beat fourth-seeded Italian Marco Cecchinato 7-6 (6) 6-3 in the other semi-final.

Djokovic's first-set problems from earlier in the week were quickly forgotten as he raced into a 3-0 lead, the top seed breaking at the first attempt as a Bautista Agut backhand drifted wide.

Asked about his workload, Djokovic said: 'I wasn't the freshest, you know.

Tenshin Nasukawa issues statement after stoppage loss to Floyd Mayweather
For now, we only can take Mayweather at his word that he'll stay retired and his 50-0 record will remain etched in history. Floyd Mayweather had his way with Tenshin Nasukawa during today's exhibition boxing bout at Rizin FF 14.

This makes him a risky opponent for Djokovic, although it should be pointed out that their other three meetings on hard courts have all ended in favour of the Serbian.

"I think I did a very complete match". Novak was up and it was really tough. "I had to play a lot of lines and serve well".

'He played a good game. "I did everything well today".

By contrast, Bautista Agut had a comparatively simple straight sets win over former Grand Slam champion Sam Wawrinka, beating the Swiss 6-4, 6-4.

Everything looked to be going to plan for Djokovic when he took the opening set in less than 40 minutes, however his opponent grew in confidence and went on to secure a first win over the Serbian since 2016.

The set saw some astonishing tennis from both the players, the drop shots, down the line shots, volleys and a few long rallies all which kept the full house entertained.

"I will remember this match all my life", said world number 24 Bautista Agut, whose victory over Djokovic slightly improved his win-loss record against the Serb to 2-7.
