FaceTime bug lets callers spy on recipients’ audio before they answer

  • FaceTime Bug Lets You Listen to the Person You Are Calling Before Even They Pick Up

While making a FaceTime call, it's possible to add another person to the call by swiping up on the iPhone, and if you add your own number while the phone is still ringing, the recipient's mic will turn on and you'll be able to hear audio from their end before the call has been accepted. There's no way to limit FaceTime only to your friends, from what we know.

Now that FaceTime is disabled, callers will be unable to utilize this bug to listen and watch you without your permission through FaceTime.

A major new bug introduced in iOS 12.1 allows anyone to exploit a bug in FaceTime Groups to listen in on the audio (and potentially see the video) of anyone else using iOS.

The bug is believed to affect any pair of iOS devices running iOS 12.1 or later. For them, it looks like you're trying to FaceTime with them, but there's no indication that you can hear them (or, if you make noise, they can hear you). A subsequent report by The Verge also stated that the bug can also activate the recipient's camera, but it would require the recipients to press the Power button when the call comes in.

New Samsung Galaxy S10 Leaks Reveal Integrated Cold Wallet for Cryptocurrencies
The rear of the handsets were also shown; both were displayed boasting a triple-camera system. Instead, the phones may feature waterdrop notches, just like the regular Mate 20.

The only option right now if you don't like the idea of anyone being able to eavesdrop on you?

All you can do is disable FaceTime to prevent people from snooping on you. Disable FaceTime on your phone.

In order to deactivate FaceTime on your iOS device, navigate to "Settings, ' then tap on 'FaceTime" and select 'Off'. Later, BuzzFeed reported that they could also access the front facing camera and that Apple stated that they are "aware of this issue and we have identified a fix that will be released in a software update later this week". You'll get better sleep either way.
