Counter-espionage officers in Poland have arrested a Chinese manager working for the tech giant Huawei, and a former Polish intelligence officer who had also worked at the mobile phone company Orange.

Poland security officials also searched the offices of Orange, one of the most subscribed telecommunication providers in Poland.

The development comes as the USA is exerting pressure on its allies not to use Huawei, the world's biggest maker of telecommunications network equipment, over data security concerns. Orange has worked closely with Huawei to install 5G infrastructures.

A Chinese Huawei "director" and a Polish cyber business specialist have been arrested in Poland on suspicion of spying for China, it has emerged.

Past year, the heads of the FBI, CIA, NSA, and the director of national intelligence all warned USA citizens not to use Huawei products.

The West's security concerns surrounding Huawei, and fellow Chinese telecoms equipment firm ZTE Corp, center around China's National Intelligence Law.

On Jan. 11, Reuters reported Polish officials had arrested a Huawei employee and former Polish security official on spying allegations.

"It's not the beginning of this case but it's also not the end", he said. Huawei is now the No. 1 seller of smartphones in Poland.

They were named as Weijing W. and Piotr D.in the agency release. The men could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

According to local media, the Chinese businessman is believed to be a director of the Polish branch of Huawei.

They were detained by Poland's Internal Security Agency, TVP Info reported.

New Zealand, Australia and the USA have barred Huawei from involvement in their next-generation 5G mobile networks. She was arrested on suspicion of hiding her company's ties to Skycom, a small telecoms subsidiary that conducted business dealings in Iran in violation of USA trade sanctions.

"As we start 2019, it is time for a change", Bradley said in the post.

The Chinese government said it was "highly concerned" over reports of the arrest of a Chinese businessman for alleged espionage.

The executive's arrest follows the arrest of Huawei's global chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou, who was arrested in Vancouver in December 2018.

However, Polish authorities told Reuters the spying allegations are related to the actions of the individual Huawei employee, and not necessarily linked directly to the company itself.

It added: "Huawei complies with all applicable laws and regulations in the countries where it operates, and we require every employee to abide by the laws and regulations in the countries where they are based". The company's chief financial officer, Meng Wanzhou, was detained in Canada in December and faces charges that she violated U.S. trade sanctions. Until then, she's under strict bail conditions, which include electric monitoring and an around-the-clock security detail. In New Zealand, the Government Communications Security Bureau turned down Spark's bid to use Huawei equipment on the new 5G network in November.
