Janice Freeman, a popular contestant from season 13 of "The Voice", has died in Pasadena, Calif. from an extreme case of pneumonia, which caused a blood clot to travel to her heart. She was just 33 years old.

Her rep also shares that several months prior, doctors had inserted a port-a-cath to ease Freeman's ongoing lupus treatments, but her immune system continued to remain depressed, with even common colds threatening more serious repercussions.

The singer was at her West Covina home when she told her husband, Dion, she was having trouble breathing. He called 911 and did CPR on Freeman until the paramedics arrived. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of Dion, the first responders, and the hospital staff, Freeman was pronounced dead at the hospital at around 5:30 p.m.

Singers, including Jennifer Hudson, took to social media to pay tribute to Freeman, writing "the voice of hers we got to hear and the bit of life we got to watch her live was a blessing and inspiration to us all". She had a husband and daughter. She revealed on Twitter past year that the pop star had helped her family cover some bills until they found permanent housing.

After the news of Freeman's passing broke, Cyrus shared a picture of a rainbow on Instagram, saying "Thank you @janicefreeman ... for everything. And she allows God to use her to bless my life".
