  • Trump is greeting football players at the White House with fast food — again

President Donald Trump made national headlines when he chose to serve up a fast food buffet to the Clemson Tigers after they defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide in the NCAA Football National Championship Game.

Fast food spread at the White House for North Dakota State University Football Team.

"We could have had chefs - we could have - but we got fast food", Trump said at the event.

But on Monday, Trump, who has a well-publicized penchant for the Golden Arches, suggested the decision was aimed at supporting American business.

Trump says that this time around he chose a fast food smorgasbord to show a sign of support for American businesses. While they didn't expect there to be any food, Trump made sure the players were treated to some burgers and fries.

At the January dinner for the Clemson University football team, Trump served McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King and pizza.

The players laughed with the president while eyeing stacks of Big Macs and Chick-fil-A sandwiches on a long table in the center of the room.

"Somebody better draft him, he's going to be a rich guy", Trump said of Stick, who followed the footsteps of former NDSU quarterback Carson Wentz. They also told the reporter that the President did not eat with them.

President Trump addressed the room first.
