Trump uses first veto to stop Congress from halting national emergency

President Trump on Friday used the first veto of his administration to reject a bipartisan resolution that sought to block his declaration of a national emergency at the border, a move nearly certain to kill the measure.
The resolution passed the Republican-controlled Senate and the Democrat-controlled House by a large majority and officially registers a rebuke of Trump's action. "Yesterday, Congress passed a unsafe resolution that if signed into law would put countless Americans in danger, very grave danger", he said, sitting behind his desk in the Oval Office.
