Mueller report will be released within a week: U.S. attorney general

  • US Attorney General Expected to Face Mueller Report Questions

Of course, the news of the impending release of the report did not satisfy all congressional Democrats. He also said that Mueller presented evidence "on both sides" about whether Trump obstructed justice, but he did not draw a conclusion one way or the other.

Attorney-General William Barr appears before a House Appropriations subcommittee.

Republicans sought to play down the possibility that the Mueller report might challenge Trump's assertion that he has been exonerated of colluding with Russian Federation, and they asked Barr whether he would now look into whether the conduct of federal law enforcement officials during that investigation had been inappropriate.

Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, suggested the full report may raise new questions for Trump but would not contain anything that would threaten the presidency.

"Even for someone who has done this job before, I would argue it's more suspicious than impressive", Lowey said. Only 19 days into his job as acting attorney general, Barr ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation to mount a rescue mission. Barr was grilled by Democrats on the handling of that summary, which stated the special counsel found no evidence of collusion between members of the Trump campaign and Russian Federation during the 2016 election.

The Justice Department will redact grand-jury information, information that would reveal intelligence sources and methods, information that affects the privacy of "peripheral players" not charged as a result of the investigation, and information that would compromise ongoing prosecutions, Barr said.

He asked whether the Justice Department would look into whether the Federal Bureau of Investigation should have sought a court order to conduct surveillance on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. He added that he didn't know what's in the Mueller report, "but there are going to be things that maybe cause some people to say, 'Oh, gosh, I didn't know that existed.' Now, does it reach a threshold?"

Nearly immediately afterwards, he missed a simple one-on-one with Eibar keeper Marko Dmitrovic . "We will see", he said. We will come out of this situation bit by bit, insisting in working hard, thinking positively, and nothing more.

Rep. Jerry Nadler of NY, the Democratic chairman of the House committee, tweeted Monday that he planned to eventually call Mueller to testify. Committee Democrats are likely jumping at the chance to pick over the report's grislier details (whatever those might be) with Mueller himself-a potential cable-news soundbite bonanza.

Barr also said Tuesday that he's working with Mueller's office to identify the information in the report that falls within those four categories, but that when they release the redacted report, they will be clear about each type of redaction.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, a Republican, has said he would be satisfied hearing only from Barr and not Mueller.

"Looks like Bob Mueller's team of 13 Trump Haters & Angry Democrats are illegally leaking information to the press", Trump tweeted Sunday, taking aim at Muller's team after headlines emerged that their report figures much worse for Trump than Barr's original summary made it seem. "It will never end, but that's the way life goes!" he tweeted Monday. Democratic lawmakers expressed frustration after the hearing that Barr wouldn't answer certain questions, such as whether the White House had been briefed about the Mueller report. Everyone will soon be able to read it on their own.

"I believe that our country must respond to any foreign interference with the strongest measures, and we must work with partners at the state level to ensure that our election infrastructure is completely protected", his statement says.

And - having told lawmakers previously that his department was scrubbing the report with an eye on a mid-April release - Barr confirmed the Justice Department was on course to make the report public in the next seven days.
