Missouri Senate wants Planned Parenthood official to testify

Cobb said McAuliffe’s argument that the bill would restrict women’s access to health care is untrue.

Introduced in January by Republican Delegate Benjamin L. Cline, HB 1090 would have banned the Virginia Department of Health from giving money to any entity that performs abortions for reasons other than those allowed for federal funding. If you think the answer is no, then you don’t know Planned Parenthood. “This is predatory and exploitative pricing that preys on vulnerable poor women of color”, said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, whose national headquarters is just a few blocks the street from the Planned Parenthood office. We didn’t do Medicaid expansion. If they don’t provide care, then where will these women go?
Supporters of the measure say the bill is needed to ensure state funds continue not to be used for elective abortions.
“We’re here today to smack down the latest attack on women’s health care rights”, McAuliffe said.
Republicans likely don’t have enough votes to override his veto, according to the Washington Post.
McAuliffe was joined at the event Tuesday by lawmakers and advocates.
The local Planned Parenthood previous year performed 800 STD screenings, 144 HIV screenings, 614 pregnancy tests and screened 864 women for cervical and breast cancer, clinic officials say.
Protestors outside of Planned Parenthood’s Richmond Health Center carried signs. She believes life is a “beautiful choice”.
Toward those ends, the panel has requested documents from more than 30 groups, and last month it issued subpoenas to three institutions it deemed uncooperative with earlier requests: the University of New Mexico, where research is done using fetal tissue; an Albuquerque abortion clinic called Southwestern Women’s Options; and StemExpress, which provides human tissue to biomedical researchers. “Despite this, AHCA filed the charges and caused Planned Parenthood to devote considerable time and resources to frivolous and unwarranted charges when such resources could have been devoted to providing additional care and services to the Floridians who rely on Planned Parenthood every day for health care”.
